Babara AGE, the acting director of diplomatic bureau for Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Papua New Guinea, visited Korea Saemaul Undong Center to learn about the essentials of Saemaul Undong and strengthen their interactions.

SO, Jin Kwang, the president of Korea Saemaul Undong Center, emphasized, “The United Nations accepted Saemaul Undong as the successful model for community development”, and he added, “Also, Saemaul Undong is not only the important paradigm for community development but also an effective and universal approach to meet governance, social capital and sustainability for all countries in the 21st century.”

“When I visited Korea last year, I heard a lot of achievements of Saemaul Undong from former Papua New Guinea ambassador to Korea so I have been deeply interested in Saemaul Undong. 85% of Papua New Guinea are occupied with agriculture. I am sure the Korean government policy which supported Saemaul Undong(A Grid-type Governance) will be very helpful for building up horizontal governance which has been implementing by our government”, Babara AGE explained.
